After deluge of election calls, Grossi urges Morris County residents to check website

Office workers getting more than 100 calls per hour, clerk says

Morris County Clerk Ann Grossi asked residents to check the county clerk’s website before contacting the office via phone after the office received a deluge of calls regarding the election.

“We always want to answer all calls and provide timely and accurate information, but with this unprecedented volume, it becomes difficult,” Grossi said. “That is why we are urging people to use our website first before calling for routine questions.”

Grossi said her office was averaging more than 100 calls per hour on every Election Division phone. Over the weekend, a single employee’s phone recorded more than 2,000 messages.

“This is why we are asking the public to go to our website at www.morriscountyclerk.org with simple questions,” Gross said.

The site provides information about ballot box and polling locations, instructions on how to fill and return ballots and directions about how to handle duplicate ballots or ballots for past residents or deceased individuals.

Residents whose questions are not answered by the site are urged to call the county clerk.
