Retired labor leader gets party backing

By David Wildstein, March 05 2018 4:46 pm

By a vote of 40-0, Monroe Township Democrats have dumped Mayor Daniel Teefy from their organization line and endorsed Councilman Rich DiLucia to run against him.

The unanimous vote of the party’s executive committee also included a rejection of Teefy’s council slate.

DiLucia is retired as the vice president of AFSCME Local 1099.

“This resounding rejection of the incumbents made this an easy decision. We need leaders who are responsive to taxpayers and have a bold vision for the future of our Township,” said Democratic Municipal Chairman Chris Milam. “This decision means that our slate will have the full support of the Gloucester County Democratic Party, which is significant in the primary election process. The committee’s ultimate goal is to provide the best possible candidates for positions in government to all the people of Monroe Township, Gloucester County.”

DiLucia will run on a ticket with council candidates Katherine Falcone, Pat O’Reilly and Greg Wolfe.
