Kevin McCabe scored a landslide re-election victory tonight, defeating Charlie Kratovil for the second consecutive year in a race for Middlesex County Democratic Chairman.

McCabe beat Kratovil, 535-67, an 89%-11% margin, to win a ninth one-year term as head of one of the state’s strongest Demcoratic county organizations.

Kratovil, the publisher of New Brunswick Today, a local news site, had also challenged Beatrice Moskowitz for vice chair in 2019.

Moskowitz was unopposed in her re-election bid.

Gov. Phil Murphy and Democratic State Chairman LeRoy Jones, Jr. were on the virtual election call.

Middlesex Republicans are also meeting tonight to pick a successor for Lucille Panos, who is stepping down after five years in the post.

South Plainfield Councilman Rob Bengivenga has received endorsements from 21 of 22 Republican municipal chairs.  He faces Sharon Hubberman.
