Atlantic City Democratic mayoral candidate Pamela Thomas-Fields will bracket with U.S. Senate candidate Lawrence Hamm in the July 7 mostly all vote-by-mail Democratic primary.

The incumbent, Marty Small, is on Atlantic County Democratic organization line in the primary.

Thomas-Fields has the endorsement of the Atlantic City Democratic organization, which is unofficially led by Craig Callaway, the former city council president.

Hamm, the co-chairman of Bernie Sanders’ New Jersey presidential campaign, is challenging incumbent U.S. Senator Cory Booker.

Booker won the endorsement of the Atlantic County Democratic convention, but eschewed the organization line to run separately with political science professor Brigid Callahan Harrison in New Jersey’s 2nd district.

Harrison’s chief rival, former public school teacher Amy Kennedy, is the organization line candidate in Atlantic.

Kennedy has the endorsement of the Atlantic City Democratic organization, votes that helped propel her to victory at the March convention.

With her decision to bracket with Hamm comes an endorsement of his uphill Senate campaign against Booker.

“Mr. Hamm embodies so much of what I stand for as a public servant,” said Thomas-Fields. “He has devoted his life to advancing civil rights and continues to lead us toward a more fair and progressive future. His support for public health and education is so important to our communities both here in Atlantic City and throughout the state. I am very proud to bracket with him in this election.”
