DiLucia loses Monroe GOP primary after party switch

Samuel Miles will take on Gregory Wolfe in November

By Joey Fox, June 07 2022 9:55 pm

Monroe Mayor Richard DiLucia, who switched from the Democratic Party to the Republican Party in March, has lost the Republican primary for a second term to Samuel Miles, a businessman and high school tennis coach who ran off the line. As of 9:55 p.m., Miles led by a huge 72-28% margin.

Miles’ slate of off-the-line council candidates – Janet Schaefer, John Valentine, and Mark Kozachyn – also easily beat DiLucia’s slate, which included fellow party-switching Councilwoman Katherine Falcone.

The winning Republican ticket will now face Democratic Councilman Gregory Wolfe and his three council running mates in the November general election.
