The New Jersey GOP standard bearer, Jack Ciattarelli, has endorsed Jack Zisa for re-election as the Bergen County Republican chairman.

“Chairman Zisa has earned the overwhelming support of prominent Republicans across Bergen County, a well-deserved testament to his dedicated and bold leadership,” said Ciattarelli.

Zisa faces a challenge from former Fairview Councilman Raymond Herr in the July 7 election for county chairman.

Last year, Zisa endorsed Ciattarelli for the Republican nomination for governor.

Gov. Phil Murphy carried Bergen County by 5.5 percentage points against Ciattarelli, but the GOP scored some gains at the local level.

“We will continue to build on the momentum we have seen in places like Paramus, North Arlington and Wallington, where Republicans have taken back seats and win in places where Democrats outnumber Republicans,” Ciattarelli said.

In turn, Zisa praised Ciattarelli for being “an unwavering supporter of the Bergen County Republican organization.”

Ciattarelli has announced his plan to become a gubernatorial candidate in 2025.  Another potential Republican candidate, radio personality Bill Spadea, also endorsed Zisa this week.

“As our grassroots juggernaut and fundraising team grows exponentially, it’s important to recognize county leaders who stepped up to provide real support for local candidates, defending majorities and picking up new seats,” Spadea said on Twitter.  “Let’s keep Jack Zisa at the helm.”

Zisa was re-elected in 2021, defeating Oradell GOP municipal chairman Michael Gardner by a vote of 350 to 164.
