Burlington Democrats flip surrogate’s office, hold commission seats

Burlington County Commissioners Daniel O’Connell and Felicia Hopson, both Democrats, have been re-elected, and Democratic Burlington Township Mayor Brian Carlin has been elected to the position of county surrogate.

They beat Eastampton Councilman John Adams, Albert Pallanti, and Bass River Mayor Deborah Buzby-Cope, respectively.

Local Republicans had hoped to make a comeback this year in Burlington County after losing their 5-0 majority in recent cycles. But in a sign of the county’s continued leftward shift, they fell short even as other Republicans around the state were exceeding expectations.
