U.S. Senator Cory Booker headlined a fundraiser for Union County Democrats on Wednesday evening, giving attendees an added bonus when actress Rosario Dawson joined them.
“If I had known we had a Hollywood star joining us, we probably could have sold even more tickets,” said Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Nicholas Scutari, the Democratic county chairman.
The fundraiser was virtual and included remarks from State Sen. Joseph Cryan and the county’s slate of legislative and commissioner candidates.
Booker spoke of recent incidents of gun violence and answered questions on forgiving student loans and New Jersey’s new law to legalize marijuana.
Scutari heaped praise on Booker.
“Senator Booker is a rock star whose priorities match our own: from criminal justice reform, to uplifting the middle class, Senator Booker fights for fairness for all of Union County’s residents,” Scutari said.
