Juan Melli, a respected communications expert and former associate editor for PolitickerNJ, has been elevated to partner at Mercury, one of New Jersey’s largest public affairs firms.
Melli joined Mercury in 2018 after serving as communications manager for Hoboken and an advisor to the city’s mayor, Dawn Zimmer. At Mercury, Melli works with nonprofit and Fortune 500 clients to develop messaging and crisis communications strategies.
“Juan’s extensive experience in New Jersey government and media has been key to helping our clients solve complex problems,” said Michael Soliman, who heads the firm’s New Jersey office. “I’m proud of the work we’ve been able to do together and thrilled to now call him a Partner.”
Another Mercury partner, Mo Butler, said that Melli “knows how critical decisions are made, and his sharp instincts have helped us continue to set the standard for public affairs in New Jersey.”
Melli earned a Ph.D. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Princeton University.
He has worked as a digital director for a U.S. Senate campaign, a senior communications advisor on a congressional race, a new media director for a gubernatorial campaign, and an advisor on a mayoral campaign. BINJE has noted his work as one of New Jersey’s Best Hispanic Business Leader.
Melli was appointed to the inaugural board of the New Jersey State Parks and Open Space Foundation by the governor. He is also active in several nonprofit organizations, serving as President of Team Wilderness, Vice President of the Hoboken Community Center, and a board member of the New York–New Jersey Trail Conference.
