A new public affairs firm opened by Mike DuHaime earlier is now expanding into Ohio, with two top advisors to U.S. Senate candidate J.D. Vance signing on to join MAD Global.

Jai Chabria and Taylor Van Kirk both worked at Mercury, where DuHaime had been a partner prior to his departure last year.

A former senior advisor to Gov. John Kasich, Chabria serves as Vance’s chief strategist in the race for U.S. Senator Rob Portman’s open seat.  Van Kirk is Vance’s communications director and is a former press secretary for the Speaker of the Ohio State House of Representatives.

“Jai Chabria has been a friend and colleague for more than a decade. There’s no one better in the business.  His leadership puts our firm on the map in Ohio,” DuHaime said.  “Taylor Van Kirk is a communications professional with deep government affairs roots in Columbus, which will be an immediate benefit to our growing firm.”

Laura Matos left another public affairs firm, Kivvit, to become a partner at MAD Global in April.  She is the chair of the New Jersey Pinelands Commission and was a Democratic member of the New Jersey Apportionment Commission.
