Democrat Laura Fortgang has more money in the bank that Republican Assemblywoman Betty Lou DeCroce (R-Parsippany) in a race for a State Assembly seat Democrats have not won since 1973.

DeCroce, the top fundraiser in the 26th district race, had a $173,931 haul this cycle, but has $30,340 cash-in-hand.

Fortgang, the Verona Democratic municipal chair, has raised $56,362 and has $34,643 in the bank.

Assemblyman Jay Webber (R-Morris Plains), seeking re-election to a seventh term, brought in $134,440 and finished with $119,436 in his war chest.

Fortgang’s running mate, Jefferson Democratic municipal chair Christine Clark, raised $19,656 and had $11,334 in reserves.

These numbers reflect where the primary campaign spending was last week and do not include expenditures or fundraising after Memorial Day weekend.

Candidates on both sides are running without challengers in the primary.
