Assembly Budget Committee Chair Eliana Pintor Marin (D-Newark) is backing Gov. Phil Murphy’s nomination of Matt Platkin as attorney general.
“Matt Platkin is an accomplished attorney whose work on minimum wage and gun safety have benefitted not only my constituents but the state as a whole,” Pintor Marin said. “Matt will provide strong leadership to the Office of Attorney General and I support his nomination.”
While Pintor Marin has no vote in the Senate confirmation process, she is the first Essex lawmaker to publicly endorse Platkin’s nomination.
Under the unwritten rules of senatorial courtesy, Platkin musts secure signoffs from four Essex senators – Majority Leader Teresa Ruiz, former Gov. Richard Codey, Ronald Rice and Nia Gill – in order to advance to the Judiciary Committee.
