New claims emerge about Zwicker-Freiman pingpong match

Assemblymen Roy Freiman, left, and Andrew Zwicker

Democratic Assemblymen in the 16th legislative district are changing their stories about who won a pingpong game filmed for one of their 2019 re-election campaign ads.

In October, Assemblyman Roy Freiman said he won, and Assemblyman Andrew Zwicker claimed there was no winner because there was no competitive game.

On Monday, Zwicker changed his tune.

“Do I want a rematch?” he said. “I don’t think we need a rematch. I won.”

Freiman is letting him have it, at least in his own mind.

“Andrew is an extremely intelligent individual, and if that’s his impression, we don’t want to upset that,” he said. “We want to allow him to have that impression. If that’s what allows him to sleep at night, I think we should let it go for now.”
