The Republican incumbents in the 26th legislative district are teaming up with Morris County Clerk Ann Grossi with the hope that they will all emerge as running mates after the county GOP organization endorses their line candidates this winter.

So far, Senate Assistant Minority Leader Joseph Pennacchio (R-Montville) as no primary opposition, although there has been speculation that County Commissioner Thomas Mastrangelo will take him on.

Former Assemblywoman BettyLou DeCroce (R-Parsippany) has said she plans to challenge Assemblymen Jay Webber (R-Morris Plains) and Brian Bergen (R-Denville) for the seat she lost in 2021, but has not yet released any endorsements.

There had also been talk that Grossi would face a challenge in the Republican primary, but that has also not yet materialized.

“I know firsthand that Joe, Jay, and Brian provide bold leadership for our Republican Party and effective and relentless representation for our shared constituents,” Grossi said.  “They put the priorities of our citizens first and always remain rooted in our communities.  I gladly endorse Joe, Jay, and Brian and look forward to running with them through the November election.”

Grossi announced her re-election bid on January 6 with more than three dozen endorsements from GOP officials.

“It is no surprise that Ann’s campaign came out of the box with a groundswell of support from so many Morris County officials, and today we are honored to join all those leaders in endorsing Ann,” Pennacchio, Webber and Bergen stated.
