Five local elected officials in East Hanover who switched from Democrat to Republican earlier this year have endorsed State Sen. Joseph Pennacchio (R-Montville) and Assemblymen Jay Webber (R-Morris Plains) and Brian Bergen (R-Denville) for re-election.
Mayor Joseph Pannullo, Council President Frank DeMaio, Jr, Councilwoman Carolyn Jandoli, and Councilmen Brian Brokaw, Sr. and Michael Martorelli announced their party switch in February, moving the governing body from all-Democratic to all-Republican.
In turn, the lawmakers endorsed the Pannullo slate in the June 6 GOP primary. Pannullo faces a challenge for the Republican nomination from Anthony Michael Gelmi.
“Team Pannullo has earned the respect and votes of the citizens of East Hanover year after year. That support is a reflection of the commitment and hard work they have for the citizens of East Hanover,” the 26th district incumbents stated. “We look forward to working with the mayor and council to continue to improve the lives of all the citizens of East Hanover.”
