Carol Murphy worried about Texas ACA lawsuit

By Nikita Biryukov, September 06 2018 12:16 pm

Assemblywoman Carol Murphy is worried a Texas lawsuit might see portions of the Affordable Care Act overturned.

“Congressional Republicans attempted to gut critical life-saving healthcare protections for Americans living with pre-existing conditions, and now they have launched a baseless lawsuit that could harm Americans living with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, asthma, lung disease, joint disorders  cancer, asthma and diabetes.,” Murphy said. “I hope that justice prevails and the healthcare of Americans wins the day, but if overturned, we must fight back legislatively to ensure that healthcare and prescription drugs are affordable. This is a moral issue because healthcare is a right and should not be another sad example of income inequality in our country.”

Some states have already replaced federal laws that were repealed or gutted under President Donald Trump’s administration, and it appears Murphy’s angling to do the same.
