Atlantic freeholder backs Joe Howarth re-election

Atlantic County Freeholder James Bertino (R-Hammonton) has endorsed Assemblyman Joe Howarth (R-Evesham) for re-election.

Another Hammonton Republican, three-term councilman Michael Torrissi, is mulling a challenge to Howarth in the June GOP primary.

Torrissi says he will participate in a Burlington County Republican screening committee on Saturday.  He says he will only enter the race if he has the backing of the Burlington organization.

“Joe Howarth has been a tireless supporter of Hammonton since day 1,” said Bertino.  “You are hard pressed to find any other elected official who has spent more time in Hammonton and has made sure our previously overlooked voices are heard in Trenton.”

Atlantic County GOP chairman Keith Davis has said his line will go to the candidate endorsed by the local Hammonton organization.
