Mae Stellato, former county chairman’s mother, dies at 96

Mae Stellato headed the East End Democratic Club

Mae Stellato, the mother of former Bergen County Democratic Chairman Louis Stellato, died on Tuesday.  She was 96.

Stellato has served as president of the East End Democratic Club, and the Lincoln School PTA president.  She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.

Her son had served twenty years as mayor of Lyndhurst an achieved historically unprecedented success as the Democratic County Chairman.  He recently became a commissioner of the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority.

Stellato is also survived by another son, as well as her children and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 9 AM Saturday at the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral home in Lyndhurst, followed by a 10 AM funeral mass at St. Michael’s R.C. Church.
