Rose Cyphers, who ran for Republican County Committee in Berkeley Heights when a conservative faction sough to take control of the local GOP organization, died on July 24.  She was 96.  Cyphers lost to incumbent Elaine Braun in a 59%-41% contest in a race where Republican Municipal Chairman Bernard Colton lost his seat to Cyphers’ running mate.

Brian Faniro,
a former member of the Mount Holly Board of Education, died on July 24.  He was 62.

Joseph Murray, a retired Paterson firefighter who was a first responder after the terrorist attack at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, died on July 26.  He was 54.  He was the Totowa deputy zoning officer.
