Marilyn Sopkia, who served on the Montclair Township Council in the early 1980s, died on November 13. She was 89. Spokia had served as a legislative aide to Assemblyman John Dennis (R-Verona) in the 1970s and as Montclair GOP vice chair.
Warren Olsen, who served at a Hightstown councilman and East Windsor school board member, died on December 6. He was 79.
Millie Steinmetz, who worked for the U.S. Navy during World War II and was the First Lady of Haworth in the 1950s and 1960s, died on December 4. She was 102.
Stephen Maskaleris, who played a key role in the creation of the New Jersey Office of the Public Defender in 1962, died on September 9. He was 94. Maskaleris served as the Far Hills school board attorney.
Robert Rizzo, a Lower Township Democratic Committeeman, died on December 7. He was 90.
John Carson, a Republican county committeeman in Vineland, died on December 6. He was 87. Carson was a U.S. Army veteran.
Monica McLaughlin, a member of the Atlantic City Republican Club, died on December 3. She was 65.
