In Memoriam: Chief Justice’s mother dies at 95

Stella Rabner, the mother of Chief Justice Stuart Rabner, has died.  A Holocaust survivor, Mrs. Rabner was 95.  Graveside services were held on Sunday morning.

Harold Higgins, a former Washington Township (now Robbinsville) deputy mayor, died on August 26.  He was 100.  Higgins was a World War II veteran who served on the township committee, school board and planning board.

Edwin Risdon, Sr., a former Frankford Mayor, died on August 25.  He was 83.  Risdon served Frankford as a township committeeman and planning board member and served on the Sussex County Vocational Board of Education.

Peter Dugett, a former commissioner of the Elizabeth Housing Authority, died on August 27.  He was 72.  He owned Pick’ Irish Pub in Linden and served on the Elizabeth Zoning Board.

Terence McGurn, who worked for the Central Intelligence Agency until days before his death on August 20, was 84.  The Jersey City native served in the U.S. Army and was an Assistant Professor of Physics at the New Jersey Institute of Technology from 1960 to 1969, before moving to Virginia.

Robert Max, who served as co-chairman of the Union County Advisory Council on Aging and as treasurer of the Summit Free Public Library, died on August 17.  He was 97.  Max was a World War II combat veteran who was awarded the Purple Heart.
