Morris Spielberg, who kept his Newark furniture store open during the 1967 riots and remained in Newark after that, died on June 23. He was 96. Spielberg flew 35 missions as a U.S. Air Force pilot during World War II before being shot down over France.
Diane Brett, who worked in the office of the Hamilton Township Administrator and briefly in the mayor’s office, died on June 22 after a five-year battle with cancer. She was 61.
Sally Evans, a former member of the Monmouth County Republican Women, died on June 27. She was 92.
Stephen Roman, a current Woodbridge fire commissioner, died on June 23. He a 83. Roman served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and served as chief of the Keasbey Protection Fire Company #1.
Patricia Allen, who worked for the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities from 1978 to 2002, died on April 4. She was 76.
