Barbara Bakst, a first woman reporter for the Courier-Post, died on February 5. She was 95. Bakst worked for the Camden-based daily newspaper from 1948 to 1949, and later worked for the New York Times and Voice of America. She later worked as a public relations executive at William Paterson University.
Jeri Severns, a former Wrightstown councilwoman, died on February 5. She was 72. Severns served as Republican municipal chair and as secretary of the Burlington County Planning Board.
David Brooks, a former two-term councilman and Bloomingdale, died on February 1. He was 79. Brooks was a surveyor for the New Jersey Department of Transportation.
Vivian Hagan Kilroy, a former reporter for the Metuchen Recorder, died on February 4. She was 97.
Joan Boris, a former Mercer County supervising criminal court clerk, died on February 5. She was 84.
