Wanda Worner, a former borough clerk in Northvale and River Edge, died on February 2. She was 65.
John Gallo, a former Buena councilman, died on February 2. He was 80. Gallo served in the New Jersey National Guard for 22 years, retiring with the rank of major.
Tony Soto, the father of Perth Amboy Mayor Wilda Diaz, died on February 1. Soto served as a Perth Amboy Democratic county committeeman and as a Middlesex County corrections officer.
Mark Heckler, a three-term member of the Morris Plains Board of Education, died on January 28. He was 72. Heckler was a Vietnam veteran and served on the Democratic County Committee.
Raymond Martinotti, who spent over 25 years as a Democratic county committeeman in Cliffside Park, died on February 2. He was 89. Martinotti was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Bricklayers Union Local 4.
Mary Higgins Clark, a best-selling author and the mother of Superior Court Judge Marilyn Clark and Old Tappan Municipal Court Judge Warren Clerk, died on January 31. She was 92. Clark helped raise money for political candidates over the years, including Rep. Bob Franks’ 2000 U.S. Senate race.
