Arlene Henry, a prominent Newark civic leader and Democratic activist, died on March 12. She was 94. She spent 30 years as director of the South Ward Community Center, served as a South Ward Democratic committeewoman, and was a political ally of Sharpe James during his years as a city councilman, mayor and state senator.
Bob Nace, a former mayor of Morris Township, died on April 10. He was 72. A U.S. Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War, Nace worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection before mobbing to New Jersey. He served on the Morris Township Committee from 1998 to 2007 and was mayor from 2006 to 2008.
James Davis, a former executive director of the Keansburg Municipal Utilities Authority, died on April 7. He was 95.
Doris Geiss, a former Democratic county committeewoman in Jersey City, passed away on May 13. She was 91.
Ailsa Johnstone Inglis, who served as a Bergen County Republican Committeewoman in the 1960s, died on May 4. She was 97. She served as a WAVE in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
