Pete Schroeder, a former Hamilton police officer and councilman who ran for mayor in 1999, died on April 24. He was 76. He served as a councilman from 1994 to 2001 and lost his mayoral bid to Democrat Glenn Gilmore.
Anne Buckley, a prominent journalist with the Catholic Press, died on April 23. She was 87. Buckley spent 29 years with The Advocate, the newspaper run by the Archdiocese of Newark, beginning as a reporter and ending as the managing editor. She served as editor in chief of Catholic New York from 1991 to 2000.
Gene Streeter, a former Stillwater school board member, died on April 23. He was 87.
Joseph Kaschak, a longtime Middlesex County Democratic committeeman from the 22nd district of Edison, died on April 20. He was 97. Kaschak served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
