McKenzie Wilson, a former top aide to Gov. Phil Murphy, has been named general counsel of University Hospital in Newark.
Wilson had worked in Murphy’s Office of the Chief Counsel from 2018 until departure fourteen months ago to join one of the state’s top law firms, Lowenstein Sandler. She became deputy chief counsel in October 2020 when Matt Platkin, now the attorney general, left to go to Lowenstein and was replaced by Parimal Garg.
Wilson and Garg had been Chief Justice Stuart Rabner’s law clerks in 2015 and 2016 at the New Jersey Supreme Court.
The state-owned University Hospital announced on Thursday that Ed Jimenez, the former CEO of University of Florida Health Shands Hospital and a veteran of St. Joseph’s Healthcare system in New Jersey will serve as it’s new president and CEO.
As a college student at George Washington University, she served as an intern to Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-Long Branch) and as an intern for the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee during the 2009 cycle.
Wilson is a graduate of Seton Hall Law School and was an associate as Proskauer Rose before joining Murphy’s staff in January 2018.
