Big name Democrats are continuing to flock to New Jersey to boost Rep. Mikie Sherrill’s bid for governor, with Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and former U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg headed to the state this month.
Both will headline high-dollar fundraisers for the New Jersey Democratic State Committee, with ticket prices ranging from $100 to $79,000.
Shapiro will be at the home of Livingston Deputy Mayor Shawn Klein on October 25, along with Rep. Josh Gottheimer. The host committee includes Klein, Assemblywoman Rosy Bagolie (D-Livingston), Livingston Mayor Ed Meinhardt, North Caldwell Mayor Josh Raymond, Livingston Councilmen Michael Vieiera, Al Anthony and Ketan Bhuptani, Livingston Township Attorney Jarrid Kantor, Karen Elkis, Degan LaCorte, Roy Tanzman and David Pascrell.
Buttigieg will appear at the Watermark in Asbury Park on October 30. The host committee includes State Sen. Vin Gopal (D-Long Branch), Monmouth County Democratic Chair Dyese Davis, Vice Chair Deana Gunn, Raj Parikh, Lauren Albrecht, Christian Fuscarino, Joe and Julie Grillo, and Russell Lewis.
Shapiro and Buttigieg are both considered possible candidates for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2028. Shapiro began is political career as a staffer to U.S. Senator Bob Torricelli of New Jersey.
