Gov. Phil Murphy isn’t soliciting funds on behalf of two Democratic U.S. Senate candidates whose election would hand the party full control in Washington, but that could change in the future.
“I’m not part of any fundraising operation for the state of Georgia,” the governor said Monday. “That may change, I suppose, but for the moment at least, I am not.”
The state is running two runoff races this year. Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.) faces Rev. Raphael Warnock for the remaining two years of former Sen. Johnny Isakson’s unexpired term.
Isakson resigned from his seat due to health reasons last year.
In the other race, Democrat John Ossoff is challenging Sen. David Purdue (R-Ga.).
