Sometimes politics gets put aside in the interests of the public.
Cooper University Hospital in Camden brought an unusual triumvirate together to talk about slowing the spread of a global pandemic today: Gov. Phil Murphy, political powerhouse George Norcross, and Dr. Deborah Birx, President Donald Trump’s coronavirus response coordinator.
The group participated in a roundtable discussion today at the hospital Norcross runs.
Also present: Murphy’s chief of staff, George Helmy, and Kevin O’Dowd, who served as Gov. Chris Christie’s chief of staff and is now the Co-President/CEO of Cooper University Health Care. New Jersey Commissioner of Health Judy Persichilli was also present.
“We talked about testing, therapeutics, vaccine. Had a pretty sobering view of the country’s state of the pandemic,” Murphy said. “Cooper’s doing an extraordinary job, I have to say.”
