Department of Environmental Protection Commissioner Shawn LaTourette was sworn in Monday.
“I am deeply grateful for Governor Murphy’s environmental leadership and honored by his confidence, and that of the New Jersey Senate,” he said. “To lead the Department of Environmental Protection at such a transformative time is an incredible privilege and an awesome responsibility that I hold sacred.”
Phil Murphy nominated LaTourette to permanently head the agency in April. By then, he had served for months as the agency’s acting head, a position he was appointed to following Commissioner Catherine McCabe’s retirement in January.
