Governor’s race 2021: Sumter, Peters will join Wildstein on New Jersey Globe Power Hour to talk Murphy vs. Ciattarelli

By New Jersey Globe Staff, April 02 2021 7:03 pm

Representatives of the two likely candidates for Governor of New Jersey in the November general election will join host David Wildstein for a discussion of the campaign on the New Jersey Globe Power Hour on Talk Radio 77 WABC on Saturday, April 3 at 4 PM.

Assemblywoman Shavonda Sumter (D-Paterson) will appear on behalf of Gov. Phil Murphy, while former Assemblyman Ryan Peters (R-Hainesport) will represent the presumptive Republican nominee, Jack Ciattarelli.

State Sen. Diane Allen (R-Edgewater Park) was originally scheduled to speak for the Ciattarelli campaign.  She is still feeling the effects of her second COVID-19 vaccine on Thursday.

Sumter and Peters will be on together for two 12-minute segments on the upcoming gubernatorial campaign after the New Jersey Globe invited the Murphy and Ciattarelli campaigns to participate in the weekly New Jersey political news show.

Peters is serving his second term in the State Assembly and is not seeking re-election this year.  He is a commander of a U.S. Navy Reserve SEAL team and could be deployed in 2021.

Sumter, a four-term lawmaker, is the chair of the Assembly Community Development and Affairs Committee and was elected this week as chair of the Legislative Black Caucus.  She was reportedly on Murphy’s short list for Lt. Governor in 2017.

Wildstein is the editor of the New Jersey Globe.
