Attorney General-designate Matt Platkin now has five of the eleven members of the New Jersey Senate Judiciary Committee on record praising his nomination, with State Sen. Bob Smith (D-Piscataway) indicating his likely support.
“I had the opportunity to work with Mr. Platin when he was (chief) counsel and I know him as an intelligent and thorough professional who will serve the people of the state of New Jersey and who will move the department forward,” Smith said.
Gov. Phil Murphy announced his nomination of Platkin earlier today.
“I congratulate the governor on an outstanding pick,” Smith said.
Senate Judiciary Chairman Brian P. Stack (D-Union City) praised Platkin’s nomination early his morning, followed by State Sens. Paul Sarlo (D-Wood-Ridge), Joseph Lagana (D-Paramus), and a Republican on the panel, Jon Bramnick (R-Westfield).
