A referendum to pass a bond act to borrow $500 million for education grants leads by 37 points, 63%-26%, according to a Stockton University Poll released this afternoon.

The initiative seeks to fund grants for schools, school districts and county colleges for construction, expansion, equipment, school security and school water system projects.

John Froonjian, a spokesman for the Stockton Poll, said that based on past experience, support may be lower in the actual vote.

“People may tell survey interviewers they support spending for a good cause but turn more frugal in the voting booth,” Froonjian said.
