Joe Biden has picked up his first endorsement of a New Jersey elected official in a state that is almost entirely backing favorite son Cory Booker.

Woodland Park mayor Keith Kazmark attended Biden’s campaign rally in Philadelphia on Saturday and made it clear he’s backing the former vice president for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination.

“I think the guy to beat Donald Trump is Joe Biden,” Kazmark says.

Kazmark has been with Biden for eleven years.  He was among a small group of New Jersey officials to support Biden when he sought the presidency in 2008.

He was also among the first elected officials to endorse Mikie Sherrill for the Democratic nomination for Congress in 2018.

Booker has locked up most of the New Jersey political establishment and has the backing of U.S. Senator Bob Menendez, Gov. Phil Murphy, all 21 Democratic county chairs, and all eleven Democrats in the state House delegation.
