Mehta gets line in Burlington

By David Wildstein, February 08 2020 11:17 am

Former U.S. Food and Drug Administration official Rik Mehta has won the organization line in Burlington, his fifth party endorsement in his bid to become the Republican nominee for U.S. Senator.

The Burlington line was awarded after a vote of the party screening committee today.

Mehta has won open GOP conventions in Union, Somerset and Hunterdon, and won a vote of the Camden County screening committee this week.  He is now the clear front-runner.

None of the other four Republicans seeking a chance to take on Cory Booker have secured organization lines.

Monmouth County will choose between Mehta, Hirsh Singh and Natalie Rivera at their convention today.

Two other candidates, Stuart Meissner and Tricia Flanagan, are not on the Monmouth ballot.
