Hunterdon County Republicans awarded Senate Minority Leader Tom Kean and U.S. Senate candidate Rik Mehta the line Wednesday.

Four other candidates, Hirsh Singh, Stuart Meissner, Tricia Flanagan and Natalie Rivera, are also seeking the nomination.

Mehta, a former U.S. Food and Drug Administration official, has raised $286,576 for his bid to run against Booker. Mehta, who entered the race on October 17, loaned $255,000 to his campaign and has $190,280 cash-on-hand.

Kean is expected to win the seventh-district House nomination without much contest.

His biggest rival for the nomination, Rosemary Becchi, dropped her bid against Rep. Tom Malinowski and is now running against Rep. Mikie Sherrill in the eleventh district.
