DSC’s longest-serving member won’t seek re-election

Paul Botempo wants new blood in the state party’s rank and file

By Nikita Biryukov, January 11 2020 1:43 pm

The longest-serving member of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee will not seek another term.

“I would beg your indulgence. I told my chairman Chip Robinson, who does a really good job in Morris County, that I am not going to run for re-election in to the state committee because I think we need younger people,” Morris County Democratic Committeeman Paul Bontempo said. “I am not one of them.”

Botempo was first elected to the DSC in 1977. He’s served under 12 Democratic state chairs.
