Eight more elections next week before 2021 cycle ends

Voters in eight New Jersey municipalities will go to the polls next week to accept or reject school construction ballot initiatives in what will be the final elections of 2021.

The State will fund at least 40% of qualified school construction costs if voters approve the December 14 referendums, according to the New Jersey School Boards Association.

In Montvale, voters are being asked to spend $29.4 million for renovations of the Fieldstone Middle School and Memorial Elementary School.

Camden County has three school referendums next week: a $26.8 million project in Audubon will enhance the Haviland and Mansion elementary schools and Audubon Jr./Sr. High School; a $10 million plan to improve heating, ventilation and air conditioning at Eastern Camden Regional High School in Camden; and a $26.9 million worth of improvements to the Pennsauken High School, as well as Baldwin and Roosevelt elementary schools, and Phifer Middle School.

Cranbury is seeking $18.5 million in upgrades to the Cranbury School, while voters in Little Falls are being asked to approve a $35.1 million plan to renovate three elementary schools and one middle school.

In Somerset County, both Warren and Watchung have special school referendum elections.  Warren wants $10 million to upgrade fire alarms and make safety improvements, as well as HVAC fixes at Central and Angelo L. Tomaso elementary schools and science room enhancements at Warren Middle School.   Bayberry Elementary School and Valley View Middle School in Watchung will get $15 million for renovations and upgrades if voters back the spending plan.
