Retired teacher Tanzie Youngblood, who has been excited the Democratic wing of the New Jersey Democratic Party with a progressive agenda and attacks on front runner Jeff Van Drew’s 100% National Rifle Association rating, raised $34,768 during the first quarter of 2018 and $88,309 since she entered the race against Republican Rep. Frank LoBiondo last year. She has just $14,102 left in her campaign account, with debts of $57,014.
Youngblood faces the right-of-center Van Drew, a veteran state senator who has secured the organization lines in all eight counties in New Jersey’s 2nd district. Will Cunningham, a former aide to U.S. Senator Cory Booker, and activist Nathan Kleinman.
Cunningham has reported raising $51,951 and has $45,986 cash-on-hand. Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Maryland) has contributed $1,500 to his former staffer.
