Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-Dennis), who switched parties last year and was given a prime speaking slot at the Republican National Convention, was outraised by Democratic rival Amy Kennedy during the last three months but has four times as much money remaining in his warchest.
Van Drew raised $1,054,626 during the 3rd quarter of 2020 and has $1,268,124 cash-on-hand. He spent $986,757 between July 1 and September 30.
Kennedy reported raising $2.3 million in the 3rd quarter and has $300,917 in the bank. She reported spending $2,109,436 between July 1 and September 30.
The numbers don’t include expenditures over the first fifteen days of October.
Van Drew has raised $3,731,415 since taking his seat in Congress in January 2019. That’s more than $2 million less than three other freshmen New Jersey House members elected in 2018 have raised for their re-election bids.
In total, Kennedy has raised $84,003 more than Van Drew, including more than $1.5 million she spent to win the Democratic primary.
A Monmouth University poll released on October 5 shows Kennedy with a five-point lead over Van Drew, 49%-44%.
