Brigid Callahan Harrison has picked up the endorsements of two more building trades unions in her bid for the Democratic nomination for Congress in New Jersey’s 2nd district: Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 322 and Operative Plasterers’ and Cement Masons’ International Association (Local 592).
“From the beginning, it was clear that Brigid was the Democrat that can actually win in the general and beat Jeff Van Drew, and now with Senator Booker choosing to bracket with her in the primary, it is now crystal clear to everyone the Democratic party has come together and we are ready to take on Jeff Van Drew,” said Kurt Krueger, Jr., the Local 322 business manager.
Anthony Gatto, the New Jersey field representative for Local 592, accused Van Drew of becoming the “poster child for a politician who puts himself before his constituents.”
“Brigid has been involved in the lives of working families for a very long time – and a union member, it is clear she is one of us,” Gatto said. “She is woman of substance, who has deep roots in South Jersey.”
