The New Jersey State Policemen’s Benevolent Association endorsed Rep. Bill Pascrell for re-election Wednesday.
“New Jersey police officers are the first line of defense for our communities at all times,” NJSPBA President Patrick Colligan said. “While their job will always be challenging, during the COVID-19 pandemic our police are facing some of the toughest work there is to keep New Jerseyans safe and secure. With police putting their lives on the line, they need to know that their leaders have our backs. We have worked closely with Bill Pascrell for over 30 years and strongly support him because he is the police officer’s best friend in office.”
Pascrell faces progressive primary challenges from Alp Basaran and Zina Spezakis In his bid for a thirteenth term in the House.
The ninth congressional district is safely Democratic.
“There are few priorities that mean more to me as a representative and as a person than standing up for all of our policemen and women,” Pascrell said. “Our police officers begin each shift not knowing if they will come home when their shift is done. Police are everyday selfless heroes that are the glue of our cities and towns. During this terrible pandemic, their invaluable role in our saving our lives has been made clearer than ever. Police are quite literally holding society together.”
