Republican congressional candidate David Richter has received endorsements from Stafford Mayor Gregory Myhre and three members of the township council.
“David’s proven track record and unique approach to problem-solving makes him highly qualified to serve in the House,” said Myhre. “I believe he is the best candidate in this race to represent the 3rd district and I am more than happy to offer him my endorsement.”
The endorsements follow the Stafford Conservative Republican Club of Richter in advance of next month’s Ocean County convention.
Richter is seeking to overturn the decision of the Ocean County GOP screening committee to endorse former Burlington County freeholder director Kate Gibbs.
The two are seeking the GOP nomination, along with Barnegat mayor John Novak and former Hainesport mayor Tony Porto, to challenge freshman Rep. Andy Kim (D-Marlton) in New Jersey’s 3rd district.
Councilmen Anthony Guariglia, Thomas Steadman and George Williams are also backing Richter.
Myhre and his slate ousted incumbent John Spodofora and his slate of council candidates in the 2018 Republican primary.
The Township of Ocean (Waretown) Regular Republican Organization has also endorsed Richter.
