Seventeen days before Election Day, Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair) announced tonight that she will self-quarantine for the next two weeks after a childcare provider for her four children tested positive for COVID.
“We received news that our child care provider received a positive COVID-19 test,” Sherrill said. “Luckily, everyone in our family has tested negative, however, we will be quarantining according to CDC guidelines.”
Sherrill will now be off the campaign trail until Halloween, although most of her events have been virtual.
This is the second time Sherrill has decided to quarantine.
In April, the freshman congresswoman remained at home after her husband tested positive for coronavirus.
Sherrill reported that she had developed mild symptoms of her own, but tested negative for the virus.
