The Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union, a union that represents 10,000 retail workers across New Jersey, announced today that it is endorsing Rep. Andy Kim (D-Moorestown) for U.S. Senate.

“We know that Andy Kim will fight for working families because he has a track record of doing just that,” RWDSU President Stuart Appelbaum said in a statement. “Our members need a New Jersey Senator who will fight for them in Washington, who will bring the challenges of the streets they live and work on every day to the Capitol, and the funding home to make everyday life better. RWDSU members in New Jersey are ready to send Andy Kim to DC!”

Kim, a three-term congressman from South Jersey, is the heavy frontrunner in the Democratic Senate primary for indicted Senator Bob Menendez’s seat. Also running are activists Patricia Campos-Medina and Larry Hamm; Kim’s most prominent opponent, First Lady Tammy Murphy, dropped out of the race last month.

The RWDSU joins the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, and the American Federation of Government Employees in supporting Kim; the first two both endorsed him before Murphy left the race.
