Rep. Donald Payne, Jr. (D-Newark) raised $54,368 during the 3rd quarter of 2019 and has $91,521 cash-on-hand as he prepares to seek re-election to a sixth term in New Jersey’s 10th district.

Payne has raised $231,259 in the first nine months of 2019 and continues to burn through his campaign cash.  He has spent $195,947 so far this year.

He paid his cousin, Eric Payne, $12,000 for fundraising services over the last three months, and has paid him $36,000 so far this year.

Payne contributed $2,000 to Cory Booker’s campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination and another $2,000 to the Essex County Democratic Committee.

John J. Flora, a Jersey City teacher who is challenging Payne in the 2020 Democratic primary, raised $3,909 in the 3rd quarter and $9,508 so far this cycle.  That includes a $5,001 loan Flora made to his campaign.

Flora has spent $1,528 and has $7,530 in the bank.

Payne won his 2018 re-election campaign by 155,062 votes, defeating Republican Agha Khan by a 88%-10% margin.

After Democrats won control of Congress in last year’s mid-term election, Payne became chairman of the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Emergency Preparedness, Response and Recovery.  He also holds a seat on the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee.

  1. I am a Bayonne resident, and unfortunately somehow carved into Payne’s district. We have nothing in common with Newark. He is useless, votes Black Caucus line, and party line. Never had an original thought in his life. I once tried to meet with him personally in his Newark Office to discuss issues. Took three months to set a date. And on the date, I met with an idiot staffer. The Congressman would not meet with me. Maybe because I am white and from Bayonne., and a registered Republican. And a Vietnam Veteran.. Ron Rice would have been a better Rep after Daddy died.
