Rep. Tom Malinowski (D-Ringoes) contrasts his record on abortion with his Republican opponent, Senate Minority Leader Tom Kean, Jr., in a new cable TV ad that began airing today.
The ad, “For Sale,” claims that Kean took campaign contributions from anti-choice groups in 2006 and “voted to restrict a woman’s right to choose” in 2004. The ad also holds Kean accountable for removing funding for Planned Parenthood from the state budget while Chris Christie was governor.
Script: Narrator – “Tom Kean, Jr. was backed by nearly $100,000 from anti-choice groups. Kean voted to restrict a woman’s right to choose and defund Planed Parenthood. He supports judges who’d overturn our right to choose. Tom Kean, Jr. sells us out every time.” Malinowski – “I don’t take corporate PAC money, so I don’t owe them a thing. I’m pro-choice. I’ll protect Planned Parenthood. And if the Supreme Court takes away our rights, I’ll fight to get them back. I’m Tom Malinowski and I approved this message.”
“For just $100,000, Tom Kean Jr. sold out a woman’s right to choose to the special interests backing his campaigns–just like he always does,” said Daniel Fleiss, Malinowski’s campaign manager. “Tom Malinowski will never take a penny from corporate PACs, and with Roe v. Wade at risk in the Supreme Court, he’ll fight to protect our rights. The choice couldn’t be clearer for voters this November.”
