Gov. Phil Murphy says that the appointment of Rep. Tom Malinowski to the House Transportation and Infrastructure is good news for New Jerseyans who want the federal government to help finance critical New Jersey projects like the Gateway Tunnel.

“Representative Malinowski’s ascendance to the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure provides New Jersey and the region with an important opportunity to invest in its aging infrastructure,” said Murphy. “Building the Gateway Tunnel and rebuilding the Portal Bridge are absolutely critical to growing our regional economy, and Federal partnership is necessary to complete these projects. I look forward to working with Representative Malinowski to achieve these shared goals.”

Malinowski made transportation and infrastructure a top issue in his successful bid to oust five-term Rep. Leonard Lance last November.
