GOP Senate candidate gets the backing of his home county

Morris County Republicans endorsed U.S. Senate Candidate Rik Mehta Friday.

“I am excited that Cory Booker is going to be fired and a successful Morris County business and family man is going to take his place. Morris County produces winners and Rik Mehta is a winner,” acting Morris County Republican Chairwoman Laura Ali said.

Morris County Republicans have an open primary with no organization line.

Mehta, a former U.S. Food and Drug Administration official, lives in Morris County.

Mehta has also won endorsements in Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, Hudson, Hunterdon, Mercer, Monmouth, Passaic, Salem, Somerset, Union and Warren counties.

His chief opponent, Hirsh Singh, has organizational lines in Atlantic, Cumberland, Ocean and Cape May Counties.
